AAP SOEM Surveys
Mission:
To facilitate the development and distribution of high-quality survey instruments that are 1) relevant and impactful to PEM practice and 2) likely to lead to future research.
Submission:
Interested researchers may apply at any time. The application can be found at https://redcap.musc.edu/surveys/?s=K3MJ3CJJD8. Questions can also be directed to the Survey Chair Chris Pruitt at pruittcm@musc.edu. Survey applications are evaluated by the Survey Subcommittee on the basis of relevance to PEM, rigor in development, and scholarly impact.
Review:
Submissions are blindly reviewed by a panel of PEM survey experts with explicit feedback provided to aid the research team. The outcome of the review may be Reject, Revise/Resubmit, or Accept/Revise. Revision requests are common. Researchers should expect a response within @ 1 month of submission.
Distribution:
A maximum of 1 survey every 3 months is distributed to the SOEM survey listserv (approximate n=500) with 3 reminder emails allowed.
Survey Requirements:
Relevant to the practice of pediatric emergency medicine
Developed and conducted by a physician group or institution; PI or submitting investigator must be a member of the AAP SOEM
Free from potential corporate influence or bias, commercial gain, etc.; no direct influence by granting agencies (“arms length” acceptable) or funding by unconditional educational grants
Approval or exemption from the PI’s IRB (prior to distribution)
